£150,000 support for business

Friday 28th May

Businesses in Burnley, Hyndburn and Pendle benefitted from over £150,000 of grants in May.

Finance4Growth, part of No Limits, have approved £150,825 of grants to businesses in Pennine Lancashire, as part of a planned investment of over £700,000 this year. The grants will support the creation of 61 jobs, and help safeguard another 29.

Finance4Growth offers grant funding to assist the growth and development of established businesses in the local area. Businesses can claim up to a maximum of £40,000 or 50% of eligible costs, whichever is the lower.

Grants this month:

Fitzpatricks UK Ltd, Nelson, a steel and stainless steel welding and fabrication company. They offer 3D Computer Aided Design, physical prototyping, test and approvals and full manufacture. The grant will support the purchase of new machinery. Seven jobs will be created.

Equestrian Surfaces, Burnley. The firm makes, supplies and installs man-made surfaces for horse riding. The grant will support the purchase of new equipment. 17 jobs will be created, while 16 are safeguarded.

Cherry Tree Bakery, Burnley. The firm makes packaged cakes for leading retailers and high street chains. The grant is for machinery to put in a new cake production line. 20 jobs will be created, while 13 jobs are safeguarded.

Icon Designs, Knuzden. The company manufactures memory foam products, including sofa beds, contract furniture, mattresses and chesterfield suites, and has supplied bespoke orders to TV programmes including Big Brother. The grant, to buy new machinery, supports the creation of 12 jobs.

Fitted Furniture Solutions, Clayton le Moors. Five jobs will be created as a result of a grant for new machinery for the company, which designs and installs fitted furniture, mainly for the education sector.

Victoria Lamonby from Finance4Growth, said: “These five firms are examples of the many local businesses expanding and creating new jobs and opportunities for local people.

“Working through a partnership of business support agencies, we’ll continue to help and support new and existing businesses. If you are thinking about growing your business, get in touch soon. Don’t miss out.”

The grants bring Finance4Growth’s total investment in Pennine Lancashire to well over £2 million since the project began in 2007, unlocking additional private sector investment of £3.5 million.

That support has already created 600 jobs and safeguarded hundreds more. Around 800 companies have benefitted so far.

Steve Hoyle, Executive Director at Regenerate Pennine Lancashire, said: “Finance4Growth is our key programme that has enabled existing businesses to grow and prosper. We wish every success to the latest successful applicants.”
