Barrowford firm celebrates award - with a little help from No Limits

Monday 14th December

A Barrowford company is celebrating after scooping a prestigious export award, with some free help from Pennine Lancashire’s No Limits programme.

ACDC Lighting, based at the Innovation Works, won the Export Performance award from Chamber of Commerce East Lancashire’s International Trade Club. The awards recognise the – often unseen – work of exporters.

The company, which designs, makes and installs LED and Cold Cathode lighting for architectural use, won the award for winning £1.5 million of export contracts. It has increased sales by over £2 million, despite a slump in construction. And it’s proud to still manufacture in the UK.

The company delivered contracts for the Burj Al Arab Hotel and Atlantis Resort in Dubai, The Cube in Moscow and the International Wetlands park in Hong Kong.

Mark Wolstenholme, Head of Marketing for ACDC said: “I’m really proud that we’ve won. The company has been working hard to build business in our export markets. We’ve employed another 13 people at a time when other companies are laying off staff.”

Ed Murphy, International Trade Director at Chamber of Commerce East Lancashire said: “Winning these contracts in the face of fierce international competition is quite something.”

ACDC’s advice was funded by No Limits, which supports new and existing businesses across Pennine Lancashire.

Steve Hoyle, No Limits’ Director, said: "Success in export benefits people across Pennine Lancashire, bringing jobs and prosperity.

"No Limits' has worked with the Chamber to support a wide range of exporters. The aim has been to take the mystery out of exporting and ensure firms have expert backup and advice. This award shows what can be achieved and is a tribute to the hard work of ACDC Lighting."
