Extra bounce for Blackburn company

Monday 22nd October

Staff and bosses at a Blackburn company have an extra spring in their steps thanks to funding from the No Limits initiative.

The Rubber Flooring Company is the first company to benefit from the No Limits' Finance for Growth Programme, which supports the expansion and development of Pennine Lancashire businesses.

The money has been put towards internal development works at the company's new premises in Hurstwood Court on the Shadsworth Business Park.

Managing director Alex Markham received the cheque for £3,369 from No Limits director Steve Hoyle.

He said: "I heard about the Finance for Growth programme through the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and felt that we ticked all the right boxes when it came to receiving funding.

"We were greatly impressed by level of advice and assistance we got through No Limits, which is a fantastic programme that our fellow Pennine Lancashire businesses should be finding out about."

The Rubber Flooring Company was first established in 2004 when a niche in the market was recognised and over three years it went from a standing start to an almost £1 million turnover.

From January this year the company became 'trade only' and stopped dealing direct with the end-user.

Alex added: "This decision was made to reinforce the brand within the flooring industry and place us as a first choice supplier for flooring contractors and rubber flooring retailers."

Having recently relocated from Burnley to Blackburn, the Rubber Flooring Company has erected new internal offices and specialised racking has been fitted in the warehouse, which has the capacity to store approximately 75,000 sq ft of rubber flooring.

Steve Hoyle said: "Our aim is to change the enterprise culture of Pennine Lancashire and ultimately to make it one of the most enterprising and innovative in the country. It is great to see that businesses such as The Rubber Flooring Company share our vision."

"Through a series of projects aimed at individuals, communities and businesses, No Limits aims to transform the enterprise culture of Pennine Lancashire and raise the aspirations of its residents.

"We need more people to tell us what they need in terms of business support - whether they are thinking of setting up in business and need advice, or are already established but want to grow."
