"I had the idea of starting my own business but didn’t know how to go about getting it started so kept putting it off. However my friend gave me the number for No Limits."

"You’re taking total responsibility for everything and you have to cover the full spectrum of the business."
Business board could be boost for Darwen
Tuesday 22nd September
People in Darwen have the chance to hear about how they can support businesses in the town, at an event on Thursday (October 1).
Dr Ernesto Sirolli, an internationally celebrated business expert, will be talking about how more people can be encouraged to start businesses, and how people in Darwen can set a Community Enterprise Board to make it happen.
The event has been organised by No Limits, the Pennine Lancashire business development programme, and is being hosted by the Darwen and Rural Neighbourhood Board.
The proposed board would follow a model set out by Dr Sirolli, which has already been successful in Rossendale and Hyndburn. Boards have also been set up recently in Burnley and Pendle. It would bring together people who have an idea for a business with others who want to support and encourage them, including existing business owners.
The idea is that people are supported to develop their ideas with advice and guidance from other local people, who can bring local understanding.
John Sturgess, the Chair of Darwen and Rural Neighbourhood Board, said: “This is a great opportunity for people in Darwen to get together, support each other and encourage more businesses and bring more jobs into the town. The key thing is that the group is locally led and locally run, so we need anyone who’s interested to come along and find out more- it can’t happen without you.”
The event starts with a free buffet at 5.30pm on Thursday, October 1 at Darwen Library Theatre, with the discussions taking place from 6pm to 8pm. To get a free ticket, call Amanda on 01254 222154.
