Eureka! - No Limits to county's spirit of invention!

Thursday 20th December

Lancashire is famous for its inventive spirit and a new generation is now flying the flag of innovation in the County.

Under the multi-million-pound No Limits programme, more help than ever before is available to aid would-be entrepreneurs in Pennine Lancashire.

Eureka, a No Limits project, offers specialist support for people and businesses that want to push the boundaries of innovation, creativity and technology.

The aim is to tap into private sector expertise in areas such as, ICT, prototyping and ebusiness to help bring new products onto the market more easily.

An inventors self-help club has been developed to build creativity in the area and nurture ideas and innovations.

Hugh Roberts of Eureka said: "We work with around 200 businesses each year, and thanks to No Limits that figure is growing.

"Our specialist advisers work closely with businesses, helping them develop innovative products and services from prototyping, to web development to issues of intellectual property.

"What all the projects have in common is a great idea, and it is our role to nurture, develop, protect and exploit those ideas."

No Limits is an initiative to help support new and existing businesses throughout Pennine Lancashire with advice, finance, accommodation and a whole range of other support. The first No Limits Enterprise Haven, where businesses can grow in a supported environment, was opened by Jack Straw in November at Furthergate, Blackburn. Four others are being developed, including the transformation of the Darwen End at Ewood Park into a managed business centre with 24 offices.

It is supported by the three professional football clubs of Pennine Lancashire and the local authorities, including Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. No Limits secured £23m from the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative to regenerate the economy through enterprise.

Eureka is operated by the Digital Development Unit at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for the benefit of all qualifying businesses in Pennine Lancashire
