Guardian Angel offers Garden Doctors the remedy
Friday 27th June
Business is blooming for the Garden Doctors after receiving a check-up from their Guardian Angel.
After three years in business the Colne based landscape and garden design business found itself at a crossroads - victims of their own success - and so directors Kathryn Weatherill and Simon Alcock called on the Guardian Angels Entrepreneur Network to find themselves a mentor.
Since teaming up with their mentor Brian Kerr eight months ago they have gone from one to six employees who look after maintenance and landscaping and are now looking for a General Manager.
Kathryn Weatherill director of Garden Doctors at Calderhouse, Spring Lane says: "Brian has given us the courage to take the business to the next level and the confidence to take risks which have resulted in the expansion of the business.
"Simon and I started the business with the idea that we would concentrate on design but once people have the garden they want they are always keen to get someone to come and maintain it. We needed advice on which direction to take to expand the business further.
"This is where Brian made a huge difference. He made us realise that we needed to progress and open the business up to new opportunities instead of passing everything on to other companies. So we started to recruit and bought two more vans.
"Without Brian's advice and experience we would still be turning away business and sending people to our rivals but now we are able to cope with the amount of business that we have coming our way.
"If anyone is thinking of getting themselves a Guardian Angel my only advice would be, don't hesitate! Everyone can benefit from having a Guardian Angel and I believe that no matter what stage of business you are at, it is never too late."
