Having children was the best thing that could have happened to two best friends from Blackburn, as it prompted the mothers to start up their own catering business.
Spice Fusion Corporate Catering is a No Limits success story, after the business support initiative gave owners Farida Daud and Zahera Bahadur the confidence and support they needed to establish their dream business.
Following the birth of Farida’s third child, childcare difficulties prevented the customer service officer returning to her part-time job at Blackburn Council’s revenue and benefit department.
Zahera, a former clerical worker in the medical records department at Blackburn Royal, was in the same situation; balancing her time between caring for three young children and part-time work.
The childhood friends decided that a catering business was the perfect solution to combine their maternal responsibilities and their passion for food.
Farida said: "A catering business seemed like the next logical step for both of us; we didn’t have to worry about childcare as we could tailor the business around our children and cooking is something we both love doing."
