Pipeline Induction Heat (PIH) is a large engineering company, based at Rossendale Road Industrial Estate in Burnley, specialising in the onsite application of anti-corrosion coatings and heat treatment for onshore and offshore oil and gas pipelines.
PIH works to develop innovative technologies to protect pipelines from corrosion, heat loss and mechanical damage at the field joint; a very sensitive bare part of the pipeline.
A global company, PIH has nine branches worldwide and does business with countries including Canada, the US, Netherlands, Norway, Korea, Australia, Brazil and Angola. Its export turnover currently stands at £24m.
The company has a proven track record in carrying out logistically difficult shipping operations to get its bespoke equipment, manufactured in-house, to its customers worldwide, sometimes even chartering its own aircraft.
No Limits has supported PIH through its specialist international trade advice service, which is delivered by the East Lancs Chamber of Commerce, helping them get into new markets around the world.
No Limits partner the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce helped them set up an online ‘e-cert’ system to allow them to create export paperwork quickly and get it approved almost instantly, increasing productivity levels and allowing the business to run even more smoothly. In a competitive and demanding industry, where even a day can make the difference between success and failure, the system proves its worth again and again. Other companies still take the best part of a week to do what PIH can do in 24 hours.
They are also an expanding company with a number of new starters recently taking up positions. PIH currently employs 87 staff at its Burnley base, a mixture of qualified engineers, apprentices from Burnley College, managers and support staff.
And No Limits, through the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, provided support for one of PIH’s latest recruits. Paul Horwell is the latest member of PIH’s export team. No Limits was able to provide advice on the training he’d need to support the company’s export operations.
PIH continues to expand. And No Limits, working through the Chamber, will continue to support them.
