A seamstress from Knuzden is sewing her way to success after starting up her own business.

After Rachel White heard that existing business, The Sewing Room, was up for sale, she decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to take over the company and turned to the No Limits Get Set programme for guidance.

She said: “The first time I met my advisor, Joyce Livesy, I knew that I was in good hands.

“Joyce’s positive attitude gave me the confidence to take the plunge into self employment and start my own dream business,” she added.

A month after approaching No Limits, Rachel bought The Sewing Room and Joyce and the Get Set team talked her through every aspect of setting up a business, including business planning and forecasting, marketing strategies and access to finance.

Rachel said that the grant funding will be used for refurbishment purposes and future expansion plans.

“I am amazed at how easily everything has fallen into place since I approached No Limits – their service has been absolutely priceless,” she said.

When Rachel heard that the Sewing Room was up for sale, she saw this as a perfect opportunity to leave her managerial position at Blackburn’s Dan Kerr bridal store and pursue her own business.

The Sewing Room on Abbey Street offers alterations and garment repairs, curtain making and specialises in bridal wear.
