Recognition for business champions

Local business people have been recognised for their work encouraging others to start businesses.

Business Champions from across Pennine Lancashire were presented with certificates at an event at Turf Moor, where they also discussed other ways to get more people into business.

The champions scheme was run as part of No Limits’ Business Investment Deals project, which supports new and growing businesses across Pennine Lancashire with loan finance and encourages business start up by creating Champions in each local area. A key part of No Limits is encouraging people to think about starting a business even if they have never considered it before. And the Champions have been an important part of that work.

Ishwer Tailor, Business Development Manager, from Lancashire County Developments Ltd, which has managed the scheme on behalf of No Limits, said: “They have all contributed to their communities by promoting enterprise.

“Each of them can talk about their own different experiences. Their stories strike a chord with different groups and get them thinking about business.

“Three of the Champions have expressed an interest in joining the No Limits Get Set panels, which decide on grant funding for new businesses. So they have moved from starting their own firm to directly helping others to do the same.”
