Women take the field
Wednesday 3rd December
Enterprising women from Pennine Lancashire took to the field at Turf Moor to learn about how to kick-start their own business and have fun in the process.
The women’s enterprise day event at Turf Moor’s Enterprise Haven was an opportunity for women of all ages in Pennine Lancashire, to learn basic business skills and apply them to running a successful football club.
Burnley Football Club challenged the ladies to come up with a plan which would create enough money so that Burnley FC manager, Owen Coyle, could afford to buy a new player.
The Women Mean Business team ran a series of seminars on business skills including sales, marketing, promotion, finance and negotiation.
Women Mean Business was set up to address the current climate where men are twice as likely to start a business as women. The programme gives women a chance to pursue their ambition, receive personal advice and affords the opportunity to meet and develop business with other women.
To fill the group with cheer, the ladies started the day with a ‘Wake and Shake’ activity with Burnley FC’s cheerleaders, the Bees Knees.
Aileen Evans representing No Limits said: “The event was a huge success and it was great to see so many women with creative ideas.
Judi McFadden, from Great Harwood, came along to the event and said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to get advice and tips for starting a business, it’s great to know the support is there and that the people really care about you and your business.”
