Three newly crowned champions joined in a No Limits workshop to help eight unemployed people understand the advantages and challenges of starting up their own business.
The Enterprise workshop took place at IToon Solutions in Hyndburn, where unemployed people can train in IT increasing their chances of employment.
Paul Martin, who participated in the workshop, is a champion who runs IToon which was set up with No Limits support.
The workshop group was given a scenario of starting up their own business. The groups had to think about location, financial support, marketing and cash flow. The idea was to get people thinking about how to start their own business and show them the support available from No Limits.
No Limits project manager Ishwer Tailor, who works for Lancashire County Council's economic development company Lancashire County Developments Limited, said: “The workshop is primarily designed to help unemployed people explore alternative opportunities to get back into employment”
The attendees were all presented with certificates from champions Sorrell Holland from Physio fusion, Saima Anwar from Crystal Iced Accessories and Paul Martin from IToon Solutions. Discussing after the workshop, many attendees felt that this had been a useful exercise and would strongly consider seeking No Limits support.
No Limits is a partnership between Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley Borough Council, Hyndburn Borough Council and the football clubs Burnley Blackburn and Accrington Stanley.
